What to expect
- Chef-driven Costa Rican cooking in the middle of town, open since 2005.
- The house dish is the grandmother-style chicken; the trout croquettes, the spicy wings wrapped in banana leaf and the ribs are theirs too.
- For vegetarians there is mushroom lasagne and a Moroccan salad, not a token side.
- A full bar with its own sommelier, Andrey, and a counter where eating alone works well.
What is included
- The Huetar Norte tasting menu is five courses of local produce, designed by chef Santiago.
- Places are limited and it is booked in advance.
Additional information
- Open every day from noon to 9:30 at night. Walk-ins are fine, but at weekends it is worth booking, through OpenTable, by phone or on WhatsApp at +506 8466 4288.
- There is no dress code: the clothes you came down the volcano in are fine.
- For groups there are set menus, with 72 hours' notice.
