About Ecocentro Danaus
A private ecological reserve devoted to environmental education and conservation, four kilometres from town. Its butterfly garden holds several species, the blue morpho among them, plus a natural lagoon, a frog and reptile pond and a traditional Maleku house.

What to expect
- A small reserve with well-made trails, about 4 km east of town.
- Admission includes the butterfly garden, the frog house with poison dart frogs, and a lagoon with caimans and turtles.
- By day you can walk it on your own, 8 to 4.
Meeting and pickup
- The night tour lasts about two hours, with a reserve guide.
- That is when the good stuff comes out: frogs, snakes, insects, bats, skunks, active sloths and sometimes caimans.
- Book ahead for the night tour and for the early morning birding one.
