About Cavernas de Venado
A limestone cave system carved by an underground river, with stalactites, named formations and bats. You go in with a helmet, a torch and boots, and you come out wet and dirty. Not for anyone who struggles with tight spaces: there are passages where you have to crouch and squeeze.

What to expect
- About two hours inside the cave, plus travel: the whole tour takes four to six hours.
- You walk in ankle-deep water and in some passages you have to crouch and squeeze through.
- Stalactites, named rock formations and bats.
- Not suitable for anyone who struggles with enclosed spaces.

- Helmet, torch and rubber boots, included with the entrance.
- A guide inside the cave.
- Depending on the operator, hotel transport, drinks and snacks.
Meeting and pickup
- Departures at 7:30 and 1:00 pm.
- Venado is about 45 km from La Fortuna: most operators pick you up at your hotel.
Additional information
- What to bring: closed shoes you do not mind soaking, socks, a towel, a change of clothes and repellent.
- You come out wet and muddy. Not the tour for new clothes.
