About Mirador El Silencio

A private reserve with trails climbing over old lava flows to a viewpoint facing the cone. It gets fewer visitors than the national park, so it is one of the best places to see the volcano without a queue, and to actually hear the forest.

  • A private 225-hectare reserve, more than 100 of it primary forest.
  • Easy to moderate trails climbing to a high viewpoint facing the cone.
  • It is 12 km from La Fortuna and 5 from the volcano.
  • Far fewer visitors than the national park: one of the few places where you can hear the forest.

  • Entrance: around 10 dollars per person, among the cheapest in the area for what you get.
  • It is a private park, not part of the National Park: separate tickets.
