What to expect
- A rescue centre that takes in confiscated or surrendered animals, not a zoo: they explain where each one came from and why many can never go back to the forest.
- The regular tour lasts an hour and a half and includes the guided walk along the trails.
- With the volunteering add-on it runs two and a half hours: you prepare diets and enrichment for macaws, monkeys and the rest.
Meeting and pickup
- Departures Monday to Saturday, at 8:30 am and 1 pm.
- It is in Javillos de Florencia, about 25 km from La Fortuna, on the road to Ciudad Quesada.

- Regular tour: about 31 dollars per person, 18 for children aged 4 to 9.
